  2. sad sad day

Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital this afternoon:

Pop star Michael Jackson was rushed to a hospital this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson’s home around 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The parademics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told The Times.

i cant really believe how sad i am about this. always been a huge fan. was even considering going to London to see one of his 50 shows.

  4. you know whats funny about a family values governor cheating on his wife

    who gave him four sons?

    nothing.

    not a thing.

ok maybe one or two things.

    or close to twenty.

i saw so many funny Tweets about the disgraced governor that i put a few together for the Top of the Ticket blog.

    a few samples:

Bagyants: “Sanford turned down one stimulus, accepted another. Flip flopper!

TeresaKopec: So instead of walking the trail, he was chasing some tail.”

alanpdx: “The reason the #gop is so upset with #sanford is that he outsourced his hookers to a South American country.”

i still see many more and although id love to do a sequel, im pretty busy thinking about what salad to eat for lunch.

  5. you know what i like? rock concerts

you know what else i like? being able to hear the singer sing at rock concerts.

you know what i didnt hear last night at the Dinosaur Jr. show? J Mascis’ beautiful singing.

being that this is the second show in two years at the Troubadour where the vocals were clearly missing from the dinosaur mix, it would lead me to believe that either the band doesnt want the crowd to hear the singing – or that the sound engineer was overwhelmed with the literal wall of sound produced by a trio of Marshall amps placed behind the gray haired rock god.

funny thing happened on the way to thinking that the band didnt want J’s vocals to be heard: the two songs sung by the bassist Lou Barlow

    couldnt hear him neither.

fortunately beers were cheap and karisa somehow is looking hotter and hotter with each passing day, both factors im sure inspired the crowd to get over the fact that the show had turned into a rock band karaoke night and the last four songs of the set included some spirited moshing and crowd surfing.

let it be known that i will gladly get the new dinosaur record that came out yesterday but i probably will pass if they ever play the troubadour again.

they have protests by my work all the time

its one of the benefits of working downtown kitty corner from City Hall. i guess people think that they will be able to get the attention of the mayors office and the newspaper at the same time.

only problem is both the paper and the city hallians are busy folk and probably arent going to respond to much of anything marching down 1st street in LA unless its a totally angry mob, or a tank.

someone is telling me real life ghost stories.

apparently a drunk old man ghost was walking down one of the streets of Culver City last night. although i love ghost stories, ive never seen a ghost. but i wouldnt be surprised if they were real.

the reason i believe this one was real was cuz two dogs were barking at the drunk ghost, like crazy, then a truck passed by

    AND THE GHOST WAS GONE!

  7. ed mcmahon is dead

he never got to see the cubs win the world series

he’ll never know what store karisa got her frilly blouse
he’ll never know if the Replacements will ever play Coachella
he’ll never know if Springsteen will ever release another Born to Run, or even another Nebraska

thats the problem with death. no matter how much you accomplish in your life: star search, the tonight show, hi-yo, publishers clearinghouse, cash for gold – there are still all these things that you’ll never know or do.

for some reason thats infuriating to me.

its the reason i tell girls they should kiss me. its the reason i tell car dealers they should lower the price of that convertible so i could buy it. its the reason i dont waste my time cleaning cleaning cleaning.

life is so short that even when its long its still g-d short and we can barely get done the few things that we omg absolutely Have to do.

how many things do we do that we actually want to do, let alone dream to do?

JaG asked how much of life is wasted waiting for things, clearly shes waiting for me to move to her awaiting arms in holland. and all i can tell her is tom petty sang the waiting is the hardest part. one of the best songs ever.

“oh baby dont it feel like heaven right now…”

    for ed.

all i know is every day i want to do a little more than sit on a couch and laugh for a studio audience.

with all due respect to the dearly departed.

today for example im getting a few more cavities filled.

because life should be utterly consumed.
