how on earth do our friends have kids going to prom?

stacy teas cover cruising world--large-msg-117576591018

the last time we checked in with Stacy Teas,

former Daily Nexus illustrator and College of Creative Studies artist, poet and writer

she was sailing around the world with her family and ending up on Cruising World mag

if you recall, she had a website about their boat and featured their little daughter Liv

Liv went to the junior prom yesterday in a thrift store dress that she painted

and got super creative with the makeup as well

Stacey laid out a table for Liv and her friends for their pre prom meal and indeed that is a wasp’s nest and a skull. #nbd

“Olivia collects them. So do I. So does her grandmother. They’re beautiful…,” Stacey wrote on her facebook.

once again, i have the greatest friends.

they should write books about how to raise such cool kids.

things this one play can teach us all

1. never give up

2. when you do something, mean it, even if its just throwing a ball

3. when you move, make it at double time, unless theres a purpose to doing it slowly

4. nothing is over unless it’s really over

5. the designated hitter rule is a blasphemy as this play happened with the pitcher at bat

6. even if something has happened millions of times, life creates new wrinkles: never assume.

7. teach your children to use all of their facilities. start with batting left handed.

dear kanye west

kanye west hits his head

my brotha

my chicago brotha

i know you’re tired of the paparazzi. too bad.

i know you’re embarrassed because you hit your head on a giant red sign because you were trying to keep your pretty face down so they couldnt get a picture of you and your famous pregnant baby mama.

you should be.

let the photographers take they pictures.

they’re gonna take em anyways.

you’re cray and you’re wearing leather pants and a leather shirt walking next to preggo Kim Kardashian

you dont see your boy Jay-Z acting insane or knocking into signs

and his wife is rightfully famous!

do you remember Al Capone or Tony Soprano or even Elvis freaking out because people be eyeballing them?

Elvis was a hero to most because he didn’t care about the paparazzi.

Him nor John Wayne.

you try so hard to be cool. to dress cool. you brag about yr swag.

real swag is Expecting people to photograph your every move and instead of saying oh lawd

say yeah

with each step.

as if this is your damn world.

and they should be honored by your greatness.

pull your head up brotha and dont ever lose your cool again.

cuz thats not how we do things in the windy.

and you know this.

today is my first girlfriend mary’s birthday, she’ll always be 16 to me

mary hugging beara long time ago at a hockey game i met the prettiest girl in all the land

we were in high school. and for sure i wasnt the prettiest boy in all the land.

and still somehow i ended up with her phone number, which i think i still remember

who knows. it was many moons ago. but i called that number a lot.

probably more than i needed to because it turned out that she liked me

and probably wanted to do more than talk on the telephone every day

for years.

one day her dad got transferred and she told me they were gonna move far away.

so we started doing stuff like going to the movies

and going to our childhood playgrounds at night

and i finally got courage to kiss her

and tom petty’s breakdown was on the radio

and it was so sweet.

mary was so sweet. we wrote each other every day for a while.

just like how i write you every day now.

except back then we had paper and pen and she had different colored pens

and stationery and stickers and perfume and the nicest things to say.

when you write each other every day and youre a teenager and theres barely cable tv

theres not a lot to say but we said it and it was mostly i miss you

i love you

and i cannot wait to see you again because life is not the same without you.

i can not imagine having a better first girlfriend than todays birthday girl.

heres a different tom petty song that i think of her about sometimes when i hear it
