Temar Boggs, 15, hero

Temar Boggs, 15, hero

while we were all mourning one tall teenage black kid, another tall black teenager has emerged as a hero.

Temar Biggs and his friend saw what appeared to be an older gentleman luring a 5-year-old girl into his car with ice cream.

so Temar and his buddy got on their bikes and followed the car and chased it down.

the little girl was returned to her grateful mom and people in Pennsylvania are looking for the suspect.

He’s between 50 and 70 years old and walks with a limp. He’s driving reddish-purple or maroon car with round taillights. He was sporting green shoes, green pants and a red-and-white striped shirt.

Anderson Cooper should have young Temar on his show.

pretty much blown away by pacific rim yesterday

pacific rimtheres all kinds of websites and all kinds of film reviewers but i want to be the first movie critic who simply tells you if you should see movies in 2D, 3D, or IMAX.

or not at all. dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn!

now ive never taken 18 hits of acid before and cranked my stereo as loud as i could,

but i saw pacific rim yesterday in IMAX 3D and my senses are finally returning to me.

the 3D is amazing, the story is ok, and the special effects are pretty fantastic except for the fleeting moments that sorta look like fat guys in monster costumes.

it all reminded me of another shock to the senses.

one night in college a few dozen of my friends had an impromptu kissing party.

we didnt know that was gonna be the case. we were told to dress up fancy and watch our friends do a fancy concert on bar stools and tuxedoes.

the great drummer of tsar mixed fancy cocktails. but no one was drunk or high. just happy.

the moon came out, and the stars.

and after the group stopped singing, all of the girls started making out with every guy in attendance – and some girls. and didnt stop for hours.

afterwards i thought to myself with a goofy smile on my face “what the hell just happened there”?

at the end of pacific rim i had a similar reaction.

what happened there?

it was amazing to watch, and for some reason i felt exhausted after sitting in that theatre for 2 hours. and super hungry!

i marched over to Panda Express and wolfed down my two item combo ridiculously fast.

i had a throbbing headache that could have been from the 3D or the blaring surround sound or failure to understand what the characters were shouting or what the plot meant or why i was loving it so much.

but something i learned from that magical college evening is what i’ll say about the movie warner bros spent $200 million on and i spent $20 to see:

some things make no sense, just enjoy them.
