birth school work death

one song you dont hear covered, ever, is
The Godfathers’ 80s-era one hit bummer “Birth, School, Work, Death”.
but in my favorite b-side of all time, its right there where it belongs
right in the midst of a 12-minute medley of mayhem
which also includes a Terrance Trent D’Arby nod from another song
no one ever covers ever either.
“Wishing Well”

you know what i wish. i wish music did more of this.

i know it was during a time in minnesota where The Replacements would do
whole concerts where theyd mush up their tunes with classic oldies
and not so classic current faves.
and today thats done but on two turntables and a macbookpro
but nobody wants that.
winona ryder dont want it neither.

god bless girl talk but
james at 16,
a video you should just minimize, btw
and listen to, as if it was an s-o-s
from a different time
via a runaway radio station who loves u
and wants to show you where weve been
so we can better know where we can go

ive probably listened to this song 100,000 times

i never tire of it.

i tire of everything.

rarely do i finish a book because i dont want good things to be over.

its nice to know theres something nice over there for a rainy day.

crazy thing is, i havent had a rainy day in forever.

but still i play this song over and over daring it to get boring and it never does.

this dude wrote a pretty nice analysis of the tune, but i just like to rock out to it.

but i disagree with him about hang time. i think that was their best album. so raw so sweet.

so pre winona

soul asylum “cartoon”

Now everybody’s looking after me,
if I’m dragging by some coat tail,
I can’t see (it’s too dark),
but I’ve got to know what’s got the best of me.
When the circus that you left goes on parade,
In those bleacher seats so far in your charade,
but I’m feeling like I don’t dare look away.
Don’t look away.

Did it almost make you feel,
that something’s got to happen soon,
when you wake up feeling lost in your own room.

If you’re crying in your beer you’re gonna drown.
If you think we’ll rise above,
you’d better look around,
you’ll see.
It’s a mountain made of sand crumbling under me.
Maybe I’m chasing shadows on your wall,
they loom so large,
but make me feel so small somehow,
when you’re chasing your own tail,
spinning your own wheels.

Did it almost make you feel that somethings gotta happen soon.
You’re in the movies now that I’m in your cartoon.

There’s a ringing in my ears that’s heaven sent.
There’s a beast out on the ruins,
some broken down lover’s lament.
It goes on and on but it won’t go away.
